Faith Baptist Church is a vibrant, Christ-centered congregation in Georgetown, Kentucky, affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We are a multi-generational church family with deep roots in our community and a hopeful vision for where God is leading us together. As we search for our next Senior Pastor, we are seeking someone who will walk alongside us as a spiritual guide and fellow pilgrim in faith. Potential Pastor Profile
Communal Worship: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through meaningful, active participation in communal worship opportunities.
We seek a pastor with education and ministerial experience (some full-time, and within the Baptist/CBF family) who can bring the biblical text to life and meaning for our church in well-prepared and delivered sermons that express and call others to personal faith in Jesus Christ; who works collaboratively with ministers and volunteers in creative worship planning that draws together our Baptist roots with liturgical and church calendar content, and the music that is one of our church’s hallmarks.
Christian Education: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through meaningful, active participation in education opportunities and communal study.
We seek a pastor committed to ongoing Christian education for themselves and all ages of our church. Faith Baptist has a special relationship with Georgetown College and the community of educators in our community that we hope will expand our appeal to young adults and professionals. We also seek ways of enhancing age-appropriate educational offerings for children within our church and in our community.
Shared Life: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through meaningful, active sharing with others the difficulties and achievements encountered in seeking to live a disciplined life in the love of Christ.
We seek a person who finds joy in a multi-generational church fellowship and community activities with an upbeat spirit that is hopeful for the future; who shares and will develop our welcome and hospitality to people of all races and ethnicities, especially those in our fellowship and community who identify as LGBTQ.
Stewardship: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through the thoughtful use of all income and possessions for the support of God’s kingdom, including some form of systematic and perhaps sacrificial giving to support our church.
We seek a person who can assist in managing the business and financial assets of the church with integrity and wisdom, with an ability to use technology appropriately for communication and church information and outreach.
Personal Worship: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through some personally meaningful daily experience of communion with God.
We seek a person who shows evidence of the fruits of the Spirit, wisdom and the ability to make sound decisions, an awareness of the Spirit’s leading in and around them.
Service: We are committed to pursuing spiritual growth through making some portion of personal time available in compassionate reaching out to serve and love others in our church, our daily life, and our community.
We seek a person who brings pastoral care and compassion to their role in providing spiritual leadership for our church, including hospital and home visits as a part of pastoral care; a person who leads the church in local and international mission activities and education; a person who develops the commitment to living out God’s social justice for people and the planet.
Job Description Summary
Position Title: Senior Pastor
Qualifications:
- Mature and growing Christian
- Seminary Graduate (minimum)
- Full-time ministry experience
- Ability to think theologically
- Familiarity with and participation in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
Employee Category: Professional Ministry Staff, Full-time
- Reports to the Administrative Committee
- Evaluated by the Administrative Committee
Essential Duties
- Lead congregation in worship
- Strive to develop preaching and teaching methods that inspire and challenge spiritual growth
- Set vision and direction for the church
- Train and equip leaders for ministry through personal modeling, mentoring, and programming
- Conduct weddings, funerals, and baby dedications
- Visit people in the midst of crisis (i.e., death, sickness, trauma, or other significant events) where pastoral care is needed.
- Counsel those in spiritual need and comfort the bereaved
- Help equip deacons to care for families of Faith Baptist
- Work with ministry staff to develop a comprehensive religious education program
- Lead Faith Baptist in efforts to target and win the lost and unchurched in Georgetown and Scott County. Also fervently support national and world missions
- Guide the church members to responsible biblical giving through stewardship development
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The Pastor serves as supervisor and team leader for the church staff
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques
- Ability to make public presentations on controversial or complex topics
Reasoning Ability:
- Possesses a mind that is open to new ideas
- Possesses the ability to use sound judgement by accurately assessing probable consequences of actions for self and groups.
- Has the ability to make solid decisions based on assessment of facts

- Exhibits a passion for God and a Christ-like spirit.
- The ability to envision the future and its possibilities, plus the leadership skills to lead staff and congregation to understand and embrace the future
