Holy Week
Holy Week commemorates and invites us to journey with Jesus the week leading up to Easter. It begins on Palm Sunday with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with shouts of Hosanna, follows him to the cross with his agonizing cries of abandonment, and ends with Jesus’ burial in a tomb and three days of sheer silence. It is a time filled with uncertainty, love, prayer, betrayal, grace, darkness, unspeakable suffering, and anguish.
To complete the journey with Jesus that we began at the beginning of Lent and to prepare to receive the joy of Jesus’ resurrection, here are some opportunities to enhance the completion of our Lenten journey.
Sunday, April 13, at 11 a.m. – Palm Sunday Worship Service
Children will begin the service with a joyful procession of palms and Hosannas. Chuck Bugg will bring the message.
Wednesday, April 16, at 6:15 p.m. – Holy Week Worship Around the Table
Following our regular Wednesday night dinner in the RA will be an interpretive reading of the Passion and Communion. All ages are welcome.
Friday, April 18, at 12 p.m. – Good Friday Community Worship Service at John L. Hill Chapel (Georgetown College)
Several local churches are joining together for a simple worship service. Pastor Susan will be participating and all are welcome.
