Easter Sunday
April 20, 2025
In the Christian liturgical calendar, Easter Sunday marks the culmination of the Lenten season and is a 50-day celebration of Jesus’ resurrection following his death. Easter is central to the Christian faith because of its promise of new life that triumphs over all forms of death.
Potluck Breakfast: 10 a.m. in the RA
Instead of Sunday School, we will eat breakfast together as a church family. Please bring a dish to share if you are able.
Worship Service: 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary
This will be a day of celebration, beginning with a processional of lilies and the flower cross. There will be beautiful music and the ringing of bells every time an “Alleluia” is sung or spoken. Mary Alice Birdwhistell will be preaching.
Here’s what Mary Alice has to say about her sermon:
Do you think you know the Easter story already? Join us for a service of Easter surprise! The resounding message of Easter is that just when we think we have God figured out…just when we think we know how the story ends, God *always* surprises.
You are invited to bring fresh flowers to add to our flower cross in the foyer before the service begins. If you have one available, bring a bell from home to ring. We will have some extras if you need one.
