Advent 2025

Behold

Now is the Moment

“And the angel said to them, Fear not:
for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy…”
Luke 2:10-11, KJV

“Behold!” the angel called out to the shepherds who were watching over their sheep on that first Christmas night.

“Behold” isn’t a word most of us use every day, and yet it stops us in our tracks. “Listen up!” “Be on the lookout!” “Get ready!” it says. Beholding invites us to pay attention and open our eyes to what’s right in front of us.

That’s the heart of Advent.

But do we really spend much time “beholding” anymore? Especially during this time of the year, how many of us spend even more time rushing and hurrying and hustling and scurrying…just trying to make it through the holidays?

And yet, Advent beckons us to behold. To notice how hope, peace, joy, and love break into even the most ordinary or chaotic moments of our lives.

We look forward to this season of beholding together as a Family of Faith. And we’d love to hear about your experiences along the way. What is it that catches your attention and invites you to behold God’s presence with you and around you? What might a modern-day experience of the angel’s message to the shepherds in the wilderness look like for you? Snap a photo or share a reflection online using the hashtag #BeholdAdvent2025
