ABOUT YOUTH & STUDENT MINISTRY

Student Ministry at Faith is centered on the passage of Scripture found in

Matthew 22:36-40.

36 “Teacher, what is the most important commandment in the Law?”  37 Jesus answered:  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.” 40 All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets[c] are based on these two commandments. (Contemporary English Version)

Students are led and challenged to grow in their relationships with Christ and to love God with everything they are and everything that they do.  They participate in Bible studies, discussions, worship and discipleship experiences, and activities that draw them closer into a relationship with Christ.  They are encouraged to “practice” loving God with their heart, mind, and soul by reading their Bibles, praying, coming to church, and surrounding themselves with other Christians who can support, encourage, and keep them accountable in their faith.

As they grow in their faith they will begin to discover that the second commandment is a natural “next step” and begin to care about and love others more.  Students will participate in group-building activities and mission projects and will be challenged to live out their faith by loving and serving those around them--even those all around the world.  They will also be reminded that they cannot love others until they love themselves.  Jesus is clear that we are to “love others as we love ourselves.”  Teenage and young adult years are years of tremendous growth, change and challenges.  Students need to develop a healthy self-esteem grounded in Christ’s love and mercy and understand that they are created by God and loved completely and unconditionally.  Only then, can they begin to love others and work for another’s best interest.
